Start with the building, not a generic upload

A move between Denver neighborhoods can also mean a different property manager, lease, or accommodation contact. Before sending a letter, identify who handles disability-related requests for the actual building.

Keep the residence address with your correspondence even when the management company operates several properties. Ask where to submit supporting information and how you will receive a response.

Your route through the process

Four decisions, with a record of each

  1. 01

    Describe the need

Use the intake to explain what happens at home and how the animal helps.

  2. 02

    Take part in review

Complete consent and answer any clinical follow-up with accurate information.

  3. 03

    Check the outcome

An approved letter becomes available digitally; check the delivery email and case account, then review its factual details.

  4. 04

    Send the request

Use your building's accommodation channel and save its acknowledgement.

The clinical review and the housing provider's response are separate decisions. Starting an application does not guarantee either outcome.

Match the review to the animal count and the document's purpose. Optional identification products do not replace a clinical basis, trained service work, or Denver animal licensing.

Colorado Service Animals does not offer an ESA registry. A professional evaluation determines whether documentation is appropriate; optional cards and certificates do not establish access rights.

A note to bring to the appointment

Give the clinician a picture of life inside your home

Describe the sequence you actually observed

  1. The situation: identify a recent activity at home that became difficult.
  2. The effect: explain what you could not do as usual and how often it happens.
  3. The animal’s contribution: describe the change you noticed when the animal was present.

These prompts organize your history; they are not statements to copy into an application. Do not add symptoms or benefits you have not experienced.

Find the property context within Denver

Locate the residence first, then match your paperwork to its address. These maps identify neighborhoods, not buildings that have approved an ESA request.

Six Denver starting points for locating your property
Neighborhood mapOrientationUseful detail to retain
Capitol Hill Near the state CapitolYour street address and unit number
Five Points Northeast of downtownThe property manager’s accommodation contact
Baker South of central DenverThe owner or agent named on the lease
City Park West West of City ParkThe correct building in a multi-property portal
Union Station Around the downtown rail terminalThe requested adjustment to a residential rule
North Capitol Hill North of Capitol HillA saved acknowledgement from the receiving office

A neighborhood label helps orient the search. It does not replace the exact property address on the request.

Keep the city license in a different part of your file

Denver's contracted licensing service requires dogs and cats to be licensed within 30 days of arriving in the city. Rabies vaccination applies at six months and older. Keep both records current independently of an accommodation letter. Denver licensing instructions .

Make the arrangement work between shared entrances and your front door

Dense blocks, elevators, and common corridors make everyday animal care part of living in a Denver building. Plan manageable outdoor trips, waste cleanup, and appropriate control.

If a particular common-area rule creates a problem, identify that rule when describing the adjustment you seek. Permission to keep an animal and a request to change another building practice should not be left ambiguous.

Before you send anything

Check your Denver submission folder

The building portal is a delivery channel, not proof that the clinical facts or accommodation have been approved.

Mark the records you have prepared

A housing letter does not answer every question beyond the building

Union Station is part of the Denver landscape, but an apartment document is not a transit pass. Check the relevant operator or venue's animal rules before a trip.

If a dog performs individually trained assistance, describe that work accurately rather than relying on the existence of an ESA housing letter.

The housing office still considers the accommodation request separately from the clinician’s decision.

Denver paperwork questions, answered in context

Use the document that answers the actual question: the residence, the clinician’s findings, or city animal requirements.

Does an ESA letter replace Denver animal licensing?

No. Keep the city licensing requirement separate from the disability-related housing request.

Does changing Denver neighborhoods require a new account?

Keep using the same customer account. Update the relevant property or contact information through the existing case and ask whether the change affects the documentation needed.

Can my downtown apartment letter be used for transit access?

The housing request concerns your residence. Transit and business access depend on the rules for that setting and the animal’s actual role, not simply the existence of an apartment letter.

How should I organize my Denver application?

For a Denver move, confirm whether the lease, building portal, or management office identifies the accommodation contact. Keep the property address attached to the request even if the management company operates several buildings.

Can I describe two animals in the same Denver housing review?

Use the multiple-animal option when that matches your request. Identify each animal and explain its own contribution; the evaluator must consider the individual circumstances rather than treating an animal count as automatic approval.

Should I correct a misspelled animal name before sending the letter?

Yes. Ask the service team to check the case record and arrange any appropriate correction to the issued document. Keep the original file intact while the correction is reviewed.
